Another emotional young adult novel by the bestselling author, Adam Silvera, was released in 2018.
My Thoughts
This was my second book by the author, and I think I should have read the description beforehand because it triggered many emotions for me. Wow.
The main protagonist Griffin takes you on an incredibly sad journey, dealing intensely with heartbreak and loss. Because of an emotional downward spiral, Griffin loses himself in destructive choices even more.
The plot doesn’t follow a linear flow. It switches back and forth between past and present, which took me a while to get into. But by the time I reached the last third of the book, I didn’t care. It was so gripping that I couldn’t put the book down. I had to know how it would end. Let’s just say the ending made me highly emotional. To be honest, I was close to tears. It overwhelmed me with emotions, and I needed time to calm down again.
I really recommend this book, but be aware that it is sad as hell. Life isn’t perfect, and we all have problems. But isn’t that reassuring at the same time? In the end, we’re all in the same boat.
My rating for ‘History Is All You Left Me’
I really enjoyed reading this book. Although it didn’t give me the same excitement as a 5-star book, I can totally recommend it.
