“The Space Between” is a young adult novel from 2016 by author Michelle L. Teichman.
My Thoughts
A lovingly written YA high school book that I could relate to. I was hesitant when I bought this book because my high school days were long over, but it took me back to the time when I was struggling to find my place in the world.
This book is about two girls, Harper and Sarah. While the first is one of the most popular students in school, the second is an outsider who stutters and wears black make-up. Although they are very different at first sight, this doesn’t stop Harper from taking an interest in Sarah. The latter, to her surprise, is also attracted to Harper. As I found them both to be exciting characters, their love story immediately drew me in.
The story was charming and didn’t skimp on the intense high school drama. It is also an excellent read if you like coming-of-age and/or coming-out stories.
My rating for ‘The Space Between’
I really enjoyed reading this book. Although it didn’t give me the same excitement as a 5-star book, I can totally recommend it.
